Phonics - Vowel Blends
When two vowels are put together, they make a new sound. This sorting activity can be used in a variety of ways to help your child learn these common blends.
There is an easy way to help remember most vowel blends – When two vowels go a walking, the first one does the talking (says it’s name).
For example, with the vowel blend ‘oa’ The first letter is ‘o’ and does the talking. It says “oh”. The blend ‘oa’ makes the sound ‘oh’, just like in the word ‘boat’.
